It was a fun timewaster to create and use.įor some freakin' reason the details of the racial attributes only exist in mouse over form. It allowed me to design races when I didn't have access to the game. Once upon a time, I created a custom race creation spreadsheet for Stardrive 1. This merchant fleet thing is new to me though. I understand how moving people works, and I understand how moving food works. Why is this?Ī nice touch is that the freighters show up as coin icons when I zoom out far enough, which lets me know they aren't troop transports, people transports or food transports. I only see freighters going back and forth between my HW and my satellite colony. I don't see any freighters entering Kulrathi space or returning from there. I think it's obvious that the merchant fleets are taking the trade cash from the Kulrathi and dropping it off at the far colony so that it can afford to pay its maintenance. I have a trade treaty with the Kulrathi, so my empire is overall +2 BC per turn, despite each colony being -1 BC. Both colonies produce enough food for themselves, but both colonies are -1 BC, meaning they are producing 1 less BC than they need to cover their maintenance. I have 2 merchant "fleets" on the galactic map, shuttling back and forth between the 2. 1 is my HW and the other is a nearby star. Those were always my favorite (until SEV, of course).įinally getting around to trying this game.įirst, the game is so similar to MooII that I can't decide whether to be offended or glad.

KULRATHI DEFAULT TRAITS FOR STARDRIVE 2 SERIES

I really wish the Space Empires series wasn't dead. Otherwise, there are some things coming down the pike (like Predestination) but with the way 4X usually goes, I expect a good portion of them to never see daylight and another portion to be horrendously broken and not fun. Unfortunately, it is the same age as SOTS, so if you are looking for something more modern, it is not the way to go. Have you tried Armada 2526 Supernova? It is sort of like SOTS mixed with a little Total War (the battles are larger scale than SotS due to "units"). SotS has a real time component, which is why I mentioned the other two. that's real time, and that just won't work for me. Thanks for the response, you confirm what I have read. My fav is Distant Worlds, but I rarely get time to finish a game. It is more like Sins of a Solar Empire than SotS or MoO2 but it has some merit. You may, however, want to take a look at Star Ruler 2. Really, there has not been a good replacement for SotS, which is a shame.

Unfortunately, the game has both balance and AI issues that made me shelf it basically permanently. Baelthazar wrote:This is nothing like SotS and is almost a carbon copy of MoO2.
